Thread: Other hilts w/ TCSS guts

Default Other hilts w/ TCSS guts

Since so many MHS blade holders are out of stock, I was thinking purchasing a completed hilt from US or Saberforge, but building the guts with a NB board and a tri-exp. I guess my big question is will the heatsinks from TCSS and the chassis disks fit in non MHS hilts? This is a first build and while I'd rather use all MHS parts, I can get a completed hilt now.

SF has some hilt designs I like, but I've been weary of the electronics.

    Thanks!

The TCSS heatsink assemblies are incompatible with parts from that company.

I'm assuming you mean SF. Thanks for the reply. The option to wait for restocking is always there. ALL TCSS parts is my first option.

Actually both. Each company handles how the heat sink assembly and the blade holder align with each other differently so you need to use the heat sink assembly from the same company as the blade holder.

    Thanks for the info.

I'll probably just keep my eyes peeled until TCSS has blade holders back in stock.

This LED Module from TCSS should fit in those emmitters, it just needs to be held in with a set screw is the only thing.

My advise is still to wait for the blade holder you want from TCSS though!

Thanks for the information. I am wondering about the threading between companies. I am guessing they are different.
So no mixing of parts either?

Some of them claim to be "MHS compatible", but their tolerances aren't always up to snuff. I've heard more than a few people complain about permanently jammed threads or other connection issues when trying to mix and match.

I would advise against using parts from multiple sources.

Agreed 100%. In 10 years I've never had any threading problems between real TCSS MHS parts that wasn't my own fault [forcing over-tightening to try and line up parts way back before I'd learned the sanding tricks and when there weren't clocking washers, and/or because of not using the fabulous TCSS thread lube which is HIGHLY recommended to ALWAYS use with threaded parts].

Genuine TCSS-made MHS parts themselves have ALWAYS had good threads 'out of the box' in my experience...Kudos to Tim and Ace.

Other makers "MHS-compatible" parts on the other hand...not so much luck; some expensive lessons learned from "mix-and-MISmatch" mistakes I'd rather not remember. lol

I know the waiting for the good stuff can be tough but do yourself a huge favour by using only GENUINE MHS parts from TCSS.
