Default Parts list. Thanks for your experience and advise.

    Thanks for reading this.

I am thinking along the lines of making a pair of matching or complimentary sabers. One for myself and one for the little boy. No plans for ruling the galaxy as father and son, however.

Assuming the foundry, under a pile of crap in the workshop, is still functional, I will try to cast special matching hilts in aluminum and brass. But I don't know the first thing about electronics, or about putting together a saber. These would be the first and last ones I make. Because of that, I want them to be super-duper, awesome sabers with all the bells and whistles (steady plasma drone, power-up noise, power-down noise, flash on clash, noise on clash, noise when swinging, battle sturdy, etc). Yes, I know that means late nights at a kitchen table and cursing at a soldering iron.

This is the list I have per saber. What do I need to add/delete/change?

You won't need the swing and clash sensors with the Crystal Focus. It already has sensors. You won't need the BuckPuck either. Were you planing on putting the CF in one saber, and the BuckPuck in the other?

You have selected a 3.7 volt battery, and a 7.4 volt charger. You'll either need a 7.4 volt battery with that charger, or a 3.7 volt charger for that battery. FYI: the 3.7 volt battery will not power a BuckPuck or a Crystal Focus (although there is a hack you can do to make the CF compatible with a 3.7 volt battery).

I understand where you're coming from when you say that you want all the bells and whistles as these will likely be the only sabers you build, but the Crystal Focus Saber Core has loads more bells and whistles than what you've listed there. The entry-level Plecter Labs sound board (Nano Biscotte) has all of the features you mentioned, and there are a few boards that have an in between number of features. I would advise doing a lot of reading about the various sound boards and choose which one would be best for your application, as I don't think the CF would be the optimal choice.

Regardless of which sound module you choose, I cannot emphasize this enough: Read the manual. Over and over. Especially if you're very new to electronics. The last thing you want is to spend lots of money on electronics that you end up frying by accident.

    Thanks.

Is there any advantage to one voltage over another?

    Thanks.

I am guessing whatever parts come with the manual? So what is the difference between the Nano-Biscotte and the Crystal-Focus?

If you're using a 7.4v battery solution, the board can drive the speaker louder. You can also run multiple LED dice in series.

The 3.7v battery solution saves you space in the hilt, and limits you to driving your LEDs in parallel (not necessarily a bad thing).

Read the manual. It's available for free for download on the store. Read the CF manual. Read the NB manual. Read all the manuals for the sound boards you're considering. They'll tell you the specs and benefits of each one.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.
