what are the dimensions of the electronics necessary to build a LED saber with sound? a better way to ask, what is the necessary inside diameter of a tube to be used for an LED saber with sound?

Depends on what you want to put in the saber, a 1.5 inch diameter sink tube will fit just about anything you want to put in it. While the mhs although smaller inside will still fit most sound boards hasbro and MR. If you are thinking mhs then I would suggest a MR sound board it will fit nicely.

I'm pretty sure the the MR soundboard is 15/16 wide and about 2 inches long.

I find batteries are the main issue. I am working on doing sound inside a 1" inside diameter saber. I have to use AAA batteries. And I need to find a good speaker that fits. But it is possible.

Yup, if you special order stuff like your speakers 1" is quite possible. The MR and Hasbro boards are right at about 1". Radio shack has some speakers that will work that are 1 1/8". Batteries are much more of the issue at small diameters. Why oh why can't li-ion packs be in 3V increments![]
