    Default Resistor Question Cree Amber

I am planning a Cree Tri-XP-E2 build with 2 amber dice and a white. It looks like I will be needing a 1.2 ohm 1.2W resistor. Will using the 1.2 3w resistor from the shop dim my ambers down a lot since the watt value is so much higher than 1.2? Sorry, still a little foggy on the function of the wattage values. I know it is the max wattage the resistor can absorb, but im not sure if it has an impact on brightness. Your input is appreciated as always!

Wattage is a minimum. You can always go higher, and it won't hurt anything. Higher wattage resistors are physically larger and take up more room in your hilt. I'd advise against the huge 10W resistors unless you absolutely need them.

    Ohms will affect brightness.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Nope. The wattage rating is how much heat the resistor can dissipate.
