Thread: Problem with Charger(?)

    Default Problem with Charger(?)

I've made two sabers (red and green) that worked for a long time (months), so I'm fairly certain that I wired them correctly. The problem is that recently, once I plug in the charger, they stop working.

For clarification, I fully charged one of them (red), and now it's dead (as far as I can tell)

I experimented and plugged in the charger for an instant in to the second saber (green), and it stopped working as well. It started working again after a night or so of leaving it be and smacking it one or two times, but the red one is still dead.

Has anybody else experienced something like this, and if you have, do you know if it's a wiring issue or possibly a charger issue?

    Thanks in advance.

Maybe you wired the recharge port backwards?

Sounds to me like it's the charger that's at fault, considering how they were fine before and all of a sudden both sabers are borked. It's possible that it's doing something funny and messing with the protection circuits in your battery packs. Unless someone else knows something more about your issue, I would buy a new charger.

Have you made sure that you have the correct voltage charger for the battery pack in question??

You've had these built for months. Have you charged them before with no problems using that same charger, or is this the first time you've charged them? If you've never charged the sabers, you may have something wired incorrectly.

If you have one of the chargers that lets you select voltage (Like this one: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/37...rger-P129.aspx ) , then be sure you check the voltage setting.

It's possible that your recharge port is damaged, but it's unlikely that they both went out at the same time.

Thanks everybody for the advice and insight!

For further clarification (and to answer Silver Serpent's question), I have used the charger before without any problems, until now.
I got the 3.7v charger, and that should be the right one since I have only used 3.7v batteries (right?)

I suppose the best course of action would be to get a new charger.
That being said, do you reckon I should replace anything else like the battery or (god forbid) the sound board?

Try a new charger first. If both Sabers have the same issue, it seems unlikely to be electronics causing the problem

I agree. The most likely culprit would seem to be the charger.
