Why don't you just use the MR board? Or you don't have it anymore?

I have it but I'm using it a custom saber and I just want to run the leds for either novelty or just weird lighting.

no, no, I completely gutted a maul fx saber, now I am using the sb to put onto a TCSS saber, I just want to know if I need a resistor to run the led strip. and what would be the max volts to run them if it is diff than 4.5 volts.

I've tested the strip at 6V and it worked. Never pushed it in time connected or anymore than that.
