Default Recharge port and JST connector for external charging

A friend of mine wants to have a 2nd battery for his saber.( he works at a movie theater and will be dressed up for next weeks release)

I was wondering if i could wire a recharge port up to a female JST connector and he could us that to charge a second battery outside his hilt.

He has the 3.7v charger and will get a 2nd 18650 3.7v battery from the shop

Is there any problems that may arise from this or will it work? Has any one tried it?

    Thanks for any advise?

No issues with that setup. I'd put some heatshrink around the recharge port though.

I have a similar setup for my sabers, with one little difference: I chopped off the 2.1mm plug from my charger and reattached it with a JST connection. I can now use that, or just plug my batteries directly into the JST on the charger.

Thanks for the quick response SS. I didn't want to wire that up and have exploding batteries.

Just be mindful of the polarity. You don't want to get the wires crossed.

I always keep it with my charger. Very useful.

I like having extra battery packs with me, too.
