You know, funny you should mention that.....

A setup very much like you describe was my first saber I had in adulthood. I had a blade holder that slid over the head. It was huge. Back when the first drop-in Luxeon conversions were made for Mag Lites, I got one for this monstrosity. I eventually "upgraded" to a colored acrylic rod.

The saber didn't even come close to the stuff we have now, but at the time, I thought it was really cool. I should see if I can find that thing. I could take a picture of it next to some of my more advanced Luxeon sabers. Kinda like an evolutionary thing. LOL

I still like the one you did of the original Flange I... next to... was that a MACHINE GUN? And alongside something else, heheh.

I'd like to someday do a photo like this:

* Rattan practice stick or shinai
* Nice Sword
* A police baton or nightstick
* Carbon Fiber Saber
* Flange III Green or Red (or whatever, some nice LED saber)

And then naturally the Obi-Wan tag line "an elegant weapon, etc."

Oh yeah!
I had a couple of those. The first one got a hole in it and my Dad tried patching it with the pool liner repair kit. It melted the yellow plastic so bad, it couldn't be used again.

Dad felt bad, so I ended up with another one. LOL

We tried lighting up other stuff, but for the most part, it ended up with a foam tube (think pipe insulation). We didn't have the neon colored pool "noodles" back then.

Ah....the good ole' days.

We've come a long ways, huh?
