    Default Shroud mounting

In your guys' opinion, what's the best way to mount a shroud to your hilt?

Hello there, welcome to the forums. My saber's should is held by a tight fit and the blade retention screw and the sleeve is fixed with two set screws

Depends on the design. Sometimes the answer is screws, sometimes it's epoxy. Sometimes the switch boxes or switches themselves will hold everything in place. If you don't mind the appearance of visible screws, then that's one of the easier methods to secure things.

Sounds good, I'll look into each type of mounting technique, thanks!

You could also put a small set screw in the main hilt and drill a smaller hole in the shroud. First drive the screw deep enough for the shroud to slip on, line up the hole in the shroud to the screw, then insert your hex key in and unscrew the screw to create a pressure lock. Only works if you have a fully circular section of course.

Is there a specific epoxy you would recommend? I was going to try JB weld or 5-minute (seeing as that's what I have on hand), but am a bit paranoid on the strength/durability.

I'm a big fan of JB Weld. Never had any issues with it. Other people swear by the Gorilla Glue brand.

Honestly, if it breaks loose, you can always clean up the joint and try a different epoxy. If it stays put, you've chosen wisely.

Awesome, I'll have to give it a shot once I have the shroud shaped. Thanks for the quick response!
