New Hasbro Anakin/Vader Conversion

I believe I am getting one of these New Hasbro Anakin/Vader color change sabers now at the end of the year. Although the color change is nice and the sound pack together with clash and motion sensor are always a plus, I feel the hilt is plastic, and feels like it has a frail built.

Any suggestions on the best way to sink it into a new hilt? Should I cut off any switches (like the three position on/demo/off one), wires, etc?

Should I think of removing the LED stripe? Is it really that bad to keep it there? How resistant is the saber as it is now?
