Thread: Quick resistor question

    Default Quick resistor question

I'm helping a friend with his saber. It will eventually have a PRIZM board in it with R/G/rB tri-cree. I just need a clarification on the resistors.

I've got the .5ohm .5W resistors for the green and royal blue.

For the red I have a 1.3ohm 1W I picked up at an electronics surplus store. I also picked up a 1.5ohm 2w

Will the 1.3ohm 1W be ok for the red or should I get a 1.2ohm 2w for the red? I don't want to fry the red since it won't be mine in the end.

Another question. On pg 29 of the PRIZM manual it shows a RGB LED wired up for a crystal chamber. Am I correct in assuming that the voltage for that would be 3.7v like the main LED?

    Thank you for any help.

You'd be ok with either resistor. I believe the voltage for the crystal is 3.3

If it were mine, I'd feel more comfortable with a 2 watt resistor. You're looking at a touch over 1 watt for power.

I believe that is 3.7v, but I'm not certain.

The diagram you mentioned has the RGB accent LED running from the main LED pads, so that would be 3.7V. The actual accent LED pads are 3.3V.
