Thread: Speaker mounts and MHSv2

    Default Speaker mounts and MHSv2

I'm looking at building a few MHSv2 sabers for my kids. PVC sabers just don't hold up as well as I'd like. Three-year-olds are BRUTAL on toys.

I was curious how people were mounting their speakers in MHSv2 sabers. There don't seem to be any speaker mounts for the v2 system in the store, unless I've managed to overlook them. Is there a quick and dirty way to do this, or do I need to build my own speaker mounts?

I suppose it's always an option to use the v1/v2 adapter and use a v1 pommel, but I'd rather do a full v2 if possible.

Have you tried GOTH Customs on Shapeways? He has 20mm speaker holders and small diameter chassis that would be ideal. and most of his work are compatible with TCSS chassis disks and rods.

I haven't checked into 3d-printed solutions yet. That's certainly an option, though I'm always a bigger fan of sending money to Tim.

use a V2 to V1 adapter and a glue a v4 speaker holder into an appropriate pommel with the proper ID.

I remember a saber by cannibal869 that showed his chassis solution for an NB in MHSv2 using a piece of thick blade stock, but the photo I'm thinking of didn't show the speaker mount (although he says it's a 20mm speaker). I suppose you sand/dremmel out the inside of the blade stock to fit the speaker, then hot glue it.

Hrm, that's an interesting solution. I'd already assumed I'd be using a 20mm speaker, since the 28mm ones are larger than the v2 ID.

Blade stock might need to be sanded a bit, or it'll be real snug in v2 parts.

Found the link, the first picture is what I was thinking of. http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com...med-NBv2-MHSv2

That particular saber looks to be using a v1/v2 adapter and v1 pommel. But the idea of using thickwalled blade stock as a speaker mount looks valid.

I would second the chassis parts from Darth Ryo. I also have a bias towards Tim, but I was very pleased with the parts I did get. I hope Tim can get some parts made for mhsv2 soon, but in the meantime, Ryo or Force Relics can accommodate your needs, or you can jury rig something from blade stock.

In Madcow's MHS v2 install video, he shows a 28mm speaker fitting snugly in the pommel with an o ring. Unless of course you're doing the reverse sound thing
