Thread: NBv2 powers off

    Default NBv2 powers off

I just upgraded a stunt saber to sound using a NBv2, header and wiring harness, with a PEX and AV with LED switch. All seems to be good to go except:

In dueling, a hard hit (blade to blade) causes the saber to power off. The saber will power on again with a press of the activation switch. I actually suspected the battery to shake loose, but I secured it with electrical tape only to have it still power off. Is this a normal function of the NB or do I have a loose wire somewhere?

    Thanks.

If you have removable batteries, it is possible for a hard hit to shake the batteries enough that they momentarily lose connection in a spring holder. That's the most common cause of your issue. You could try bending the spring connectors in the battery holder so that they apply more pressure and are less likely to lose connection.

If the problem persists, you'll want to check your wiring. If your NB is not secured in the hilt, it could bounce around and short out on the hilt body. Other parts/wires could do the same. Be sure everything is insulated inside.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Thank you. I'll give that a try.

Quick update: I've learned from the process that the battery holders really will allow the battery to momentarily lose connection, rebooting the sound card. I foresee single battery, recharge port, chassis setups in the future!
