Thread: Covertec question

  1. #1

    Default Covertec question

This is probably REALLY obvious but... are the covertec thumbscrews good? Like as a thumbscrew and a covertec that wouldnt break or anything on the belt?

Mount using the 8-32 socket head screw sold here for a perfect fit.
the screws are steel. the shouldn't break.
the question is -- what are you screwing them into?. if its a thin sink tube, then they might pull out. if its a MHS piece you will be good.

Though if it is a sink tube, you could always put a nut on the inside.

I am currently in the process of designing a sink tube saber, though I am not 100% on how to do the emitter (I have no idea how to mount those sink tube blade holders) Once i get a few more supplies Ill begin a WIP page on it, but for right now I just have questions, a dream and a tube. And also no idea about how to do belt mounting or blade holding but mainly those other 3 lol

If you're planning on using this sinktube blade holder:

you drill and tap it for screws to mount it to the sink tube.

As to your covertec button question, a standard 22ga. tube like the one sold in the store is not really thick enough to hold the proper depth of 8-32 threads needed to mount the covertec button, so you may need a nut on the inside as Craig mentioned. Use a locking nut if you can to prevent it from loosening. Properly done, a 1 1/4" sinktube can make for a decent looking saber:
