Thread: Potential Faulty Power Extender

    Default Potential Faulty Power Extender

My flash on clash stays on - when ever I bridge the two top pads with any resistor.

No shorts. But looking at the board it looks like there is supposed to be a part soldered between the R AND - PADS, but all I have is the three terminal device.

Does anyone know what part should be there, it goes across the left two terminals of the three terminal device? Or does anyone have the schematic?

I'd rather not send this back, and just use parts laying around.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Pex should look like this:

There is a resistor in front of the MOSFET on the board, if that is missing, it will not work properly.

Yep, my board shipped without the resistor. Now to try and find out a reasonable value.......

Any further suggestions on the resistor value? Presumably the MOSFET is setup for current gain.....

I'm not sure what value resistor the PEX usually ships with, but assuming this is just a pull-down resistor, typically any high-value resistor would work. I've used 10K Ohm resistors with success on other FETs. You might give that a try.

Thanks Jake - you guessed it!
