Thread: First Time, two lightsabers.

    Default First Time, two lightsabers.

    Good night

It's been a while since I posted something in a forum.

I am building with a friend our first lightsabers. I've read a lot the last few months, I even bought some electronic parts. (LED, Buckpuck, Arduino)

Right now I come to you because an opportunity have been presented. I'll travel to the US in a near (one week) future and I was thinking o buying the rest of the parts needed.
(I live in Argentina and the access to imported good is restricted at the moment.)

We used the MHS Builder to put together two lightsabers.

    FIRST (My Lightsaber):
    • MHSV1 Blade Holder Style 16
    • MHS Heat Sink V3
    • Double male with slots style 2
    • MHS choke style 2
    • 1.2" Double Female
    • Activation box style 9
    • 3" Double female threaded connector
    • MPS Pommel style 7
    • MHS ribbed extension v-grooved
    • MPS Clip
    • MPS Insert style 6
    • Box 9,10, and 17 Mounting holes service
    • Drill & Tap Hole
    • Kill plug style 2
    • 4-40 Button Head
    • Star thermal tape pad
    • Clash Sensor SW-18020P
    • Swing Sensor SW-200D

    FIRST (My Friend's Lightsaber):
    • MPS Pommel style 3 v2
    • Double male with slots style 2
    • 5" Fluted double female threaded connector
    • Double ended male threaded connector style 1
    • 3" Double female threaded connector
    • Activation box style 9
    • 1.2" Double Female
    • LED blade holder style 18
    • MHS Heat Sink V3
    • Box 9,10, and 17 Mounting holes service
    • Drill & Tap Hole
    • Kill plug style 2
    • Clash Sensor SW-18020P
    • Swing Sensor SW-200D
    • 4-40 Button Head
    • Star thermal tape pad
    • MPS Insert style 6
    • MPS Clip

I have a couple a questions about this two sabers.

First, as you can see, we decided to use the "Activation Box Style 9". Is there enough space in the "3" Double female threaded connector" to put this activation box?

Second, afaik to hold the chassis in place you need to use a "Chassis Disc style 5 or style 4" but currently there is no stock of those parts. Is there any other way of achieving this with other parts?

Third, is there any problem if we use "MHS Heat Sink V4 (Flat Style)" instead of the default "MHS Heat Sink V3" ? We may need the space.

And last and more important, any thoughts about this builds?

Sorry for my english and thank you in advance for your help.

Good luck on your build, remember to take your time.

Why do you have swing and clash sensors in your cart? Those don't do anything on their own because they were used as replacement parts on MR boards, if I recall correctly.

One thing I would change is lose the vented coupler on yours, along with the adapter and make it one long six inch piece instead. With the current setup, it's going to be an insanely tight build and for a first build, that can be rough. Space runs out quick.

I think your friends will be alright, though I don't know how it's supposed to look going by the parts list, so I did my best guess in the builder to see.

The v4 heasinks are just fine to use.

I will use them with the Arduino (that I already have). The other option was to use an Accelerometer / Gyroscope, but I thought it was an overkill.
