Quick question about anti Vandel switch

I have dumb question. I just received my switch from tcss. I'm trying to loosen the hex nut at the neck of the button to secure it into position. It's not loosening easily. I'm tearing up the threads. What am I missing? This is my first time to work with one. It shouldn't be this difficult to loosen.

Pictures would help a lot. But I'm assuming its cross threaded.

Mine came like this as well. I eventually got it off using pliers. Try gripping the threads with a rubbery textured object, and twist the hex nut off using pliers carefully. You are not missing anything, its just such a small components its difficult to get leverage
