Thread: Fitment between batteries and box 12??

Default Fitment between batteries and box 12??

Hey guys! It's been a LONG time and it's great to be back... Now this isn't so much a technical question- but more of a physical placement question.

So I have been designing a new saber for a few months now, and it's finally starting to come together- It involves a 6" Double female threaded connector with activation box style 12. BUT what i'm curious about is if any of you may possibly
know if I could run a 7.4v 18650 or 18500 stick pack with this kind of space?? I calculate in length i'm okay for either, but what i'm afraid of is the batteries hitting the tabs on the switch and ports, even if i possibly trim them shorter (?). I don't have a dummy cell to test fit unfortunately.. :/ So if anyone would happen to know off the top of their heads or have been in the same situation please feel free to throw in your .02! Thanks all

p.s. here are some pics of what i'm workin' with here.

If you have something to measure with, the Li-On numbers are diameter followed by the lengthx10 in mm, so both of those are 18MM in diameter. The 18650 is 65mm long and the 18500 is 50mm long.

Take a look at the chassis discs for 18650 batteries. You'll be able to see how much room an 18650 takes up in a hilt. http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Ac...k-S3-P813.aspx

You'll definitely have to trim the tabs on the switches. It's gonna be *very* snug, if it works. Someone else will have to chime in if they've attempted it before.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

THAT was a genius idea, can't believe I didn't think of that before! I only bought 8 of those chassis disks lol With a bit of sanding to the disk i was able to test fit it, and it looks like some slight bending and/or trimming of the tabs will be needed, BUT it will fit in there nice and snug indeed! Thanks for the help guys! I'll post some updated pictures once this bad boy is finished
