The battery will be very secure. but do lithium ion packs dissipate heat in use ?
I guess better to have it under a switch then a recharge port .

I want to use this switch.http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/12...itch-P923.aspx

But I could settle for this if it's safer

Heat isn't a big concern. What you don't want is for the switch terminals to rub against the battery and wear a hole through the insulation. If that happens, short circuits and fire become your main concern.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

I highly doubt you'll get a battery under a long AV and even the short one might be a bit of a challenge.

Its in a box so its raised and its one of the shorter AV switches. Plus It has a ring that screws on that can raise it a bit more. I checked with a spare 18650 and there is clearance with a non illuminated switch similar to the one tcss sells. (this switch still screws in the box but the pegs could be shorter.)

I hope the red ring AV switch will work but I have a back up if it doesn't.
