What is the best temp to have the soldering iron at for the PC v3.5? I do not want to burn anything out
I do most of my soldering around 550F. I bump it up to 650F for LEDEngins. Experiment on scrap electronics to find a temp that works best for you. You need more heat with desoldering braid as well.
It's a bit counterintuitive, but hotter temps can REDUCE the chance of burning components (to a point). You don't have to hold the hot iron to the board as long in order to get a good solder joint.
In case you haven't been told yet: remove the SD card before you start soldering on the PC. There's a very high probability of cooking it if you leave it in there.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Thanks, I'll try a few things out.
Good looking saber, good luck with your build.
Sorry no new post on the saber. I am reworking the design, and with my 20 month twin Padawans my work is limited to after bedtime.
So tonight I have done a sound check (just to make sure) and it is working. I have also turned my 7.4v Li-ion 1050mAh 14650 Battery from side by side to length way. It is sitting on my RC multi charger now and has been charging for about a half an hour with no sparks, over heating or bulging. I did trip the PBC and thought I killed the pack, but hooked it to the charger and it reset.
Here is some pics on the shroud work.

Looks good so far, keep at it.
Got a question? Start Here. Have you tried the Thread Index yet? Most questions can be answered there.
For the noobs (like me) that are reading this a word of advice. Take your time, do not rush, do not work tired. Like Madcow always says " If you rush it, you wreck it". Well guess what? The first picture is what I am going for, the other pics you will see the problem.
