Thread: Thick or thin for short blade

Default Thick or thin for short blade

I'm planning a shoto to go with my current lightsaber, and I'm debating whether or not to get the thick blade. The blade would be 26" including the length that would be in the holder (~2") plus the tip on the end. Would the thin walled blade handle the rigours of battle at that length? My understanding is that the most likely point to break is just above the blade holder, and the likelihood of breaking increases as you use a longer blade.

I also plan on using the two shorter pieces for any conventions so I can leave the blades in my hilts without dragging on the floor, and can still respond to Sith threats

The likelyhood of the polycarbonate blade breaking is very low, no matter whether you're using the thin or thick walled version. They are very durable. The most likely outcome from aggressive dueling is a tip flying off, so eye protection is advised.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.
