Thread: 12mm AV switch and activation box 1

Default 12mm AV switch and activation box 1

Can anybody tell me the dimensions for a 12mm av switch? I'm trying to figure out if I can drill holes in the aluminum box top and use two with activation box 1. I've been trying to get some tactile switches to work in the box and top, but I'm not having much luck.

Just so you can see what I'm shooting for, here's a picture of the current setup.

Using the 12mm av switch would be perfect instead of these, because of the nut I could use to fasten them to the box top. I'm just not sure how much space the 12mm guys need. Also, it should be noted that I've modified the box to accommodate the tact switches I'm using; I cut the bottom of it out to make more room.

    Thanks!

Just used some 12mm switches. Dont remember the actual dimensions, however they are pretty long. I would guess you would have to drill a hole in the actual hilt to for the swiith to pass through. I think the the switch depth is greater that your box height just by eyeballing it, especially taking in account wire on the back of the switch.

That sounds doable. I'm going to go for it. Probably have to trim the bulk of the tabs off too before soldering if it's tight. Thanks!

Gah! I just placed the order today! XD It needs to be done for Halloween anyways. I'm looking forward to your plan, though.

While you're here, can you inform me with what I'll need to do to get the 12's to fit in box 1?

Pretty sure you need to open up the bottom of the box so the switch can go down into the hilt section.

Ok. Like I said the bottom of the box is already open, but I can open up the hilt underneath if need be. I'm just hoping that the switches don't go into the ID of the hilt, as I have chassis parts that need to slide through about half of it.
