Thread: First time saber builder

    Default First time saber builder

Is there something like a kit I can buy with all the wiring and boards included? I want to build my own saber with sound but I know nothing about electronics. I would also settle for a "shopping list" for the parts I would need. I'm also looking for saber builders near the Orlando, Florida area. Thoughts anyone?

A minimal knowledge of electronics is very useful for assembling a saber. If you can hook up wires according to a wiring diagram, and calculate the value for a resistor (or use an online calculator), then you can certainly do this.

Grab the manual for the Nano Biscotte, and read through it a few times. It has detailed directions for setting up the board.

As for a parts list, you'll need a sound board, speaker, switch, battery pack, and LED. Depending on your specific choices in that previous list, you may need additional items.

Honestly, my suggestion to you is to READ. There is a ton of information here, so start at the beginning: http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com...ene-Start-Here and pay attention to the stickied posts. Many people have started here with zero electronics knowledge, never used a soldering iron, never worked with a Dremel, and still made fantastic sabers. You will just have to put forth some effort to read, learn, and apply that knowledge.

If that's not your cup of tea, then you're better off commissioning a saber from one of the professionals.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.
