    Default Is a resistor needed for this?

    Hello everyone! Been lurking for a while, but I had a question so I needed to register. I've ordered my first set of saber parts but now I am wondering if I forgot something and need a resistor. Here is the LED set up:

    Now I'm wondering if I needed to add a resistor to that set up... Also, I went with that buck pack because it seems to be upgradable for accent lights and a sound board. Right now it is just going to be a simple led/battery/switch... but that buck pack leaves room for upgrades, right?

    I am not an expert and I am sure sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

    The Buck Puck is used in place of a resistor for the Blade LED. You just need to be sure you picked up the correct one for the LED you are using. Red and Yellow use the 700mA version. Most other colors use the 1000mA version. It also looks like the accent LED portion is set up for a single accent LED to be used without a resistor. It seems you do have what you need as long as you have also picked up a latching switch, a recharge port, a charger for the battery, and a kill plug (for when it's not being used).

    One thing to keep in mind is the mAh on the battery is 1050, so a full charge might last about an hour of use.
    The above statements GREATLY depends on what battery solution as well as what sound card you plan on using to run your saber. Limitations will probably apply. Your mileage may vary. Any visual impairments are the sole responsibility of the saber builder/user. - Forgetful Jedi Knight

    Welcome to the Forums!

    You don't need to add a resistor to the Buckpuck for the main LED. But you do need to make sure you get the 700 mA version. Once you decide to "upgrade" to a sound card, you won't need the Buckpuck anymore.

    Any accent LEDs will need a resistor with that BuckPuck. The other information ghoti posted is correct. Latching switch, use the right mA BuckPuck for your particular LED, etc.

    BuckPucks are only needed in stunt (soundless) sabers. The voltage needed to run a BuckPuck is incompatible with the Nano Biscotte, and the Petit Crouton and other higher end boards all include a LED driver, so the BuckPuck is not needed there.
