I picked up one of these Quick-release-key-ring I figured I could drill a hole in the pommel and just use the half with the bearings.

An idea I always liked was master Kota's back sheath. It's a really simple leather strap with a carriage. Theoretically you could put a strong magnet at the base of the holster. Or, I think this would work better, just have a clasp at the top similar to those used by a extendable baton'is sheaths.
"Peace is a lie. Perhaps the greatest of them all. Peace, or a lack of change equals Death. If the waters of a pool cease to move, and become stagnant, the waters poison themselves, and kill all who drink from it. Chaos, on the other hand, brings great change. Should the pool be over taken by a river, life springs anew.

Newbie, here, but has anyone considered kydex? I've seen plenty of knives sheathed in kydex, why not a saber? I'm still reading the basics and picking out my components. I'll be ordering the pieces after an upcoming birthday and have gone back and forth between D-ring and convertec. Is it worth it go get both? Is that just one of those subjective things that you need to hold both and make up your own mind?

Welcome to the Forums. It's usually one or the other, depending on how often people take the saber off their belts. Holsters have been done as well, but they are fairly rare.

"Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before... you want blindingly bright, super loud, running 1138 blinkies off of the cheapest sound card you can find AND you want all of it to run on a battery the size of a dime, and run for a very, VERY long time. That one cracks me up every time..."

I will be working on setting up a upper arm snap strap set up for my sith custom I have been working on the last few years, maybe something like that can be done for a belt? the type of latching system would be kinda like this

however around the arm and doubled up. Not sure if you want to try something like that even on the leg. Or if your saber has a upper flange, why not something like a axe frog?

Just be aware over time metal on softer metal will cause visual ware. So if you want to keep your trooping saber shiny and clean I think the first methoed would be more ideal as it will be strapped in place and not able to move like all the other methods including c.wheel or d-ring.

Just ordered (most) of the components to build my first. I ended up going with the Covertec. Pretty basic build, simple, compact. Maybe I'll get more daring when I start planning the second.

Guess I found a benefit for making guard shoto/tofa sabers. Everything else is a bigger pain than normal it seems. My father has done custom leather work my whole life and trained me I'l be making a leather more SW oriented version of this
Peace and passion gives me strength,
Strength and knowledge give me power,
Power and serenity gives me balance,
Through this balance I am set free.
For this I am labeled grey.

Anybody ever used a simple pen clip type arrangement, like you might find on a "tactical" flashlight?

I've recently converted to drings. Easier to get off a belt. Not to mention install

I did a very long time ago on a sink tube saber. It wasn't ideal and a little awkward. If I remember correctly it required two hands to get on and off my belt/pant waist.
