Thread: Tips for buying a Graflex.

Default Tips for buying a Graflex.

    Hello.

Any suggestions or things to look for when buying a Graflex Flash? I don't want to shell out a couple hundred and have it be not suitable for conversion or fake.

I thought the Patent # was a good key but I guess some of the replica/fakes (In my mind there is a difference. Replica means someone created it and is honest about it not being original and fake means they tried to pass it off as an origional. I am looking to avoid the latter) have those as well.

    Thanks!

If I ever decide to build a Graflex saber, I'll likely go with a replica. But that's just me.

I think I will get a vintage one that I can put on the mantle. Maybe put an LED in it so it turns on and leave it at that. I am not thrilled about having to shell out 70dollars for an Exactra Calculator. If I want one to take it out and play with it, I think I would get a replica as well, just so I wouldn't feel bad when I drop it.

The link you posted...they mention that the replicas might be a dying thing. That once they are gone, they are gone. Speaking of the store, the glass eye buttons....any idea how close they are?

To the best of my knowledge, Parks is still doing replicas. I've even seen full replica kits appear in the TCSS store occasionally. I'm guessing they don't sell well enough for Tim to keep them stocked permanently.

As for the store buttons, I couldn't say. I've not done a comparison on the TCSS ones and real/replica ones.
