    Default MHSv2 coming soon..

Over the next month or so we plan to start rolling out a new version of the MHS system. When the MHS system was originally designed almost a decade ago most hilts where 1.5" OD and needed to be in order to fit the electronics. Things have come a long way since then and now hilts can be much smaller thanks to sound modules like the NB and Li-ion batteries. We plan to first offer double female sections along with a male/female adapter to go from v2 to v1 so that the smaller sections can be used as grips, etc. The MHSv2 will not be a replacement for the MHSv1 and will sell along side it.

Here are a few of the basic design changes..

1.3" OD x 1" ID (the hilt sections will be made from 1.5" OD stock allowing us to offer designs with well defined features).
Threading will change to .275" male/.4" female and with a finer thread pitch (less rotations needed and the female threaded portion becomes shorter allowing for better designs).
Square cut o-ring instead of a c-clip for the MPS inserts (much easier to install and works surprisingly well).
Smaller version but the same basic setup for the LED module.
Overall it is just a smaller version of the MHS with a few key design changes.

Things are moving along on these. We should have a few of the double female sections and some V1 male to V2 female adapters done for the may 4th sale.

It will be awhile before the V2 system has anywhere near the parts the V1 system currently has. We have to put keeping current parts in stock the main priority and add these as time permits.

When these become available you will notice that the double female sections on the V2 are a bit more expensive than the V1 which is due to material cost. We start with the same OD material as the V1 on the V2 but the V2 has a much smaller ID which means more material overall = higher cost. The other parts such as pommels and blade holders will probably be a little cheaper than V1. Also we have not had much of a price increase if any in the last 9 years on MHS parts.

I had sent a prototype MHSV2 hilt to Rob at Genesis Custom Sabers for feedback and he decided to make a saber out of it. The design was just to show the amount the MHSV2 can be grooved and raised in areas from the base 1.3" OD. The grooves go in to about 1.15" while the raised area go out to 1.45". Here is a video he made of the build.

The final MHSV2 specs have less threading than the sample did so less turns to put the pommel on, etc.
