Thread: Painting MHS parts

    Default Painting MHS parts

So this is my first thread here, long time reader though. I just had a question I'm hoping someone with more expertise could help me with. I was told about this paint, POR-15, by a guy I know. He said it's basically a step between baking paint and powder coating, which intrigues me greatly. It basically dry's hard, similar to baking the paint on, it's resilient and can take a decent beating. It's a rust preventative but I'm not sure if it would stick to MHS pieces. Does anyone have any experience with this paint?

According to their website, you need to use their etching solution "Metal Ready" before painting aluminum. POR-15 doesn't normally adhere well to shiny smooth surfaces or to aluminum. Using their etching solution will allow the paint to bond properly.

That's all information I got from the manufacturer's website. I have no experience with the product myself, so take my advice as you will.

Thanks for the reply. I might just get a kit that I saw on amazon and test it on a scrap piece from my shroud I made.

Testing on scrap is always better than ruining new pieces. I'm interested to know how your experiment turns out. Please keep us informed.
