Thread: finishing MHS Sleeve shroud

    Default finishing MHS Sleeve shroud

I'm in the final stages of finishing a saber, it will have a sleeve made of MHS sleeve material. I gave it a good rubdown with fine sandpaper and steel wool. Would it be a good idea to give it a coat of clear sealant spraypaint?

also wondering what techniques others have used to finish the sleeve.

Aluminum doesn't really require sealing. You can use clear spray paint on it if you like, and it'll help limit the "silver hands" effect some people get after prolonged dueling.

Personally, I never put anything on top of my aluminum parts other than paint or powder coating. Brass parts need something or they'll tarnish in a hurry.
