Thread: Spark Board Soundfonts?!

    Default Spark Board Soundfonts?!

    Hey all!
Recently acquired a new saber with Naigon's Spark soundboard, and was wondering if all sound fonts from saberfont are compatible with it?
A noob question, I know, but don't want to buy a font I can't use!
    Thanks a lot!

Saberfont.com has fonts for both Plecter boards and for Naigon's boards. Some fonts are available in both flavors, other fonts are only available in one or the other. Check the font description before you buy it.

Yeah, I've seen what you mean, but will soundfonts 'optimised' for one board work with another? (that sorta thing)

No, not really. Plecter boards require that the hum be premixed into all the sounds, while the Naigon boards will mix in the hum on the fly. There are some other differences, mostly file naming convention, number of sounds, that sort of thing.

You *could* theoretically force one font to function on the wrong board by renaming files and tweaking the font yourself, but it likely wouldn't sound very good.

Hey DB, I responded to your questions on my YouTube page but figured I'd post here too so others can see it.

All soundfonts that work for PL products and NEC products will work on both the Igniter Mini and on Spark. If you are using a font made for a PL board you simply need to rename the files to follow the NEC naming conventions. For example, PL fonts have one hum called hum.wav. NEC boards can use multiple hums but in this case it would just be the one. You would rename hum.wav to hum01.wav. That's all it takes.

Let me know if you have any other questions

The fonts to NOT need to be modified in any other way to work or sound good on NEC boards. There are ways to make them sound even better but they work just fine as-is.

It seems I was incorrect. Thanks for the clarification IA.

    Any time SS

There's a lot of confusion out there so keep an eye out for an FAQ post on FX and IRA
