Thread: Finalizing parts lists

    Default Finalizing parts lists

So here are two parts lists. One is for me, the other is a friend's. We want to place the order at the end of October. Can someone please double check both lists for me and make sure we have everything we will need?

Just one question at the moment. Will the AV switch work only with the 'recessed AV hole', or will it also work with the 'AV switch hole', and what is the difference between the two?

Most everything looks right to me. You might consider getting some of the chassis parts to hold your speaker and the Nano Biscotte board. You could also build your own out of PVC if you prefer. I also notice you have the charger adapter, but no charger. If you're sourcing that item and the li-ion batteries locally, then it's no problem.

With the recessed AV hole, the switch will sit lower in the hole. With the regular, it sits up higher. The switch will fit fine in either version.

I already have a smart charger, so that's why I'm getting the charge adapter. For batteries, Im planning on using 4x NiMH batteries in the saber. Already calculated the resistor for the 4x batteries running 4.8V together (since NiMH put out 1.2V each)

*loud sigh* So I send a query to Tim about the P4 LEDs, and he told me that they have been discontinued. Can I still run my planned 4.8V battery pack if I change the resistor to the correct one and use the Rebel star LED? Should I just get the Rebel Star LED & MHS Heatsink Module that is pre-wired, and add the battery pack and correct resistor, and remove the heatsing from the blade-holder to avoid getting double?

You can certainly do that. Don't worry, the Rebel Reds are really nice LEDs. I doubt you'll be disappointed with them.

Can I use a battery holder such as http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/4A...ctor-P724.aspx to recharge the Ni-MH batteries that I want to use, if it is linked to a recharge port?

I decided to just go with chassis parts. In the long run it will be easier for me, and probably look a lot better than what I can put together with PVC. I will cut a groove in the side of the speaker mount to make room for the cables that go to the charge port. I am also switching to a rebel star LED, already soldered kit. Will the batteries charge safely if I leave them in the battery holder and use the charge port? I saw a mention somewhere to not charge them like that, but the holder description says rechargeables can be used.
