Hey guys…
I just wants some feedback here. I’ve been tinkering with the lightsaber that I have been working on, just kind of thinking ahead of time where I would put what where. I have asked several people about helping me with some body work, but I don’t know if that is going to pan out or not. I’ve even looking at designing the parts that I am lacking on Shapeways because I don’t have all the tools that I need to do the cutting, but I do have CAD skills. So that aspect would be easy for me.
1. My 1st question for you guys is have any of you used or printed any of the MHS parts that are on Shapeways, & what material did you print them out? I am just curious to know what your opinion was, what worked, & why.
2. The 2nd thing that I am trying to work out is the placing of all the electronics. The nice thing about the setup that I am using is that there is a lot of room to put stuff in. It’s a little longer than a normal sized hilt. 1 change that I would like to do & experiment with, is that I don’t want to put a retention screw in the emitter. I was playing with the 2 Master Replica blades that I have, & I was thinking of doing a retention ‘rod’ right about where the choke would start. Or behind the choke I should say. That way I can conceal it as a tuning knob rather than this dangly bit hanging out at the very end of the emitter sitting there by itself. That way I also have about 3-4” of choke & emitter metal to help reinforce the blade from wobbling around. Being deeper in the hilt than most saber setups.
But the main guts of the saber is built around a 2” double female extender, between 2 ribbed sections. So in other words – ‘ribbed’ – ‘female’ – ‘ribbed.’ Or these parts –

I am planning on installing a CF-LS board for my blade, & using a Makoto blade & slide switch. I plan on powering all of this with a 2 3.7v battery pack… but I noticed that I had a problem fitting the speaker in.
I’ve been doing a lot of electronics recycling over here, & I was playing with a 2W Base Speaker

And I couldn’t quite fit it in any of the spots of the tubing with a speaker mounting box, & I was wondering if you guys could give me any tips as to what kind of speaker that I might be able to use because I am not too familiar with all the small electronic stuff. I haven’t played with them, so I don’t know that much about them. I just don’t want the speaker rattling around. Any tips?
Thanks!
