Ok I went to their board and tried to find some info. Here's what I found: They are on v3.0 of the board. You said you had - "Raven with the first obsidian soundboard" If its version 1.0 then that would explain why they aren't dealing with it. Lots of companies large and small stop supporting legacy devices. I tried to find some specs but all I found was a simple wiring diagram for v3. One of the new features is "On board circuitry protections (against overpowering the soundboard & some short circuit protection)". Sounds like the old board doesn't have that.

The batteries you linked are 3.7v each so if the board can handle that now, maybe it is as easy as swapping out LEDs I don't know but if you can't afford a new sound card you can't afford to break this one. Its up to you. Ok enough talk about a product that isn't sold or supported on this site.

If you want to get a darker red why don't you try experimenting with some of the Colored-Discs.

Bottom line: You have a working saber. I'd keep it that way. Start a collection. Save up and build your own next time.

    I think we're done here.

Wait, are you the Vader's Vault guy? Is that what your using right now in your builds? How is the color for the Tri-rebels? My main concern is color. I like DEEP red. When I first saw my Seoul P4 red, I was worried that I got a defective LED or something. It wasn't really red. To me, its a orange/pink kinda red. I want that deep Sithy red. Brightness comes after that. If Tri-rebels are bright, but don't have that deep red like the deep red LEDengin, then I would rather somehow make that LEDengin work than just add another LED thats brighter.

Yes, he's "The Vader's Vault guy" LOL And yes, Tri-Rebels are what most of the sabersmiths and experienced builders use nowadays, myself included.

Though they aren't offered in the store, you CAN order a Tri-Rebel that has DEEP REDs. However you will probably only use two of them, which is still pretty bright.

This build used Tri-Rebel Deep Reds:

Also another option is getting your hands on a LEDEngin 5W Deep Red and using that, which is something I did years ago in one of my builds, which I don't think is here on this forum anymore. But as everyone else has pointed out, we all use Tri-Rebels these days because they "eat" less power and are at least as bright as the LEDEngins, and they are easier to solder.

"Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before... you want blindingly bright, super loud, running 1138 blinkies off of the cheapest sound card you can find AND you want all of it to run on a battery the size of a dime, and run for a very, VERY long time. That one cracks me up every time..."
