    Default 2 alkaline AAA's enough??

Hi all. Making a saber for a friend. Was wondering if 2 alkaline AAA's would be enough to pewer a MR board with red LED? Would 3v be enough to power it? Thanks

MR boards were designed to be run with 3 alkaline batteries.

While that may be true, wouldn't the 3 volts from 2 x AAA in series be enough to power it? Or is there something I'm no understanding regarding alkaline? I'm use to using lith-ion at 3.7 volts. Thanks

You can certainly give it a shot. The problem with your 2xAAA pack is that it will start at 3v, but quickly drop in voltage under load. The 3.7v li-ions you've been using start at 4.2v when fully charged, and drop to 3.7v for the majority of the discharge cycle.

Feel free to try it out, and let us know how it works. I'm thinking the results may be less than ideal, but give it a shot.
