    Heh i wouldn't dare try anything like painting it myself, especially for a first saber.

    Painting is easy. It's just not as durable as the powder coating.

    Paint is also pretty easy to take back off with some sandpaper, if you change your mind later. Don't get me wrong, I love the PCing that Tim does. He does an outstanding job, and it gives a very durable finish to your saber.

    On that note, is sandpaper a good way to give the saber a weathered effect?

    Sandpaper is one of many tools that can be used to weather a saber. It all depends on the look you're going for. My recommendation is to use scrap material and test out a few methods until you find the effect you're looking for.
