Idea for LEGO Windshield piece

i am new here and have read the beginners threads.

I have several clear dark blue (almost as dark as the hope diamond) and clear dark gray pieces that i could flatten out.

i was wondering if the dark gray would just dim the light instead of turing it gray and if the dark blue would work with a white LED

You're correct about the gray just dimming the LED.. think if it as a pair of sunglasses for your saber. The blue would color a white LED, but I would be more concerned about the shape. You would be taking a square and trying to make it a perfect circle... The risk being that if there are errors the white might shine through and give you uneven coloring to your blade.
