I've used the thin walled version. It works pretty well. I've never used the thick walled variety, so I can't compare the two.

I've used both. The mid grade seems a bit brighter but is more whipy when swung and hit. The heavy ones, which I have in both stunt sabers, don't transfer light quite as well to the tip and, to me, seem just a tad darker. They don't flex as much as the mids but are heavy, you will feel that extra weigth between the two and more so after 3 hours of work.

Of course, the trick to getting a nice even blade is a few wraps of clear polypropylene (clear gift wrap) inside the blade.

Either will diffuse quite well. The amount of Poly-P used will vary. I personally use 4' in the thin walled and ~2 1/2' in the thick. Both are bright and even.
