Thread: sink tube adapter

  1. #1

    Default sink tube adapter

    question:
I tried a few searches and didnt see the answer to this question.

what is the inner diameter of the sink tube adapter?
I am thinking of trying to use a 1.25" sink tube for part of a hilt and wonder if either s 1.25" tube would fit inside it or if it could be machined down to be used with a 1.25.

    anyone know?

The adapter is only for 1.5" tubes as there are no emitters for 1.25" tubes. It is slightly under the diameter of the 1.5" tube so it slides in. There isn't enoungh metal to just machine it down either.

The inner diameter of the sink tube adapter is smaller than a 1.25 inch sink tube and there is not enough wall thickness to machine it to fit.

You could ask Tim to make something custom for you.

Beware that it won't be a simple custom. The MHS just isn't that small and it'd be a whole new blade holder for the adapter type solution to work.

If dude just wants the look of one of the blade holders but wants it to connect to a inch and a quarter tube it really would not be that hard to do. The blade holder is solid stuff anyway so it is just a matter of the back end. Drop the led holder in the bottom, drop in a spacer for the optics and your good to go. We were using screws and bolts before Tim gave us the MHS to play with, it's not to different then that.

I was hoping to use a 1.25" tube as an inner tube to hold electronics and such with a 1.5" over tube. I also wanted to incorporate some of the MHS pieces hence my question of whether or not a 1.25" tube could be made to fit inside the adapter.
I would anchor the smaller tube to an adapter on each end, attach MHS parts to the adapters, dremmel an outer 1.5" tube to slip over the whole thing, and use the gap between the tubes for some grip material.

but if it can't be made to fit..............it shall remain academic.
