Hi all,

I have been lurking here for around two months and this is my first post. I have been playing around with a 2010 Vader economy board and I tried the PNP transistor setup running off of the speaker with a 6v power supply. This was as expected and didn't give full brightness for the LED. But it also seemed to mute/distort the speaker sound. I really didn't want the FoC so after further reading I tried the now-obsolete reed relay method for switching on and off the LED, but I wired it to the speaker + and battery - instead of the LED output. This seemed to do what I was looking for: No FoC and the LED is probably as bright as it is going to get (although I understand there are drawbacks for using a relay instead of a transistor). As far as I can tell on the forums, this has not been tried before. Attached is a wiring diagram and test pic.
