Default Age/Scratch & General Paint Effects

    Greetings,

I'm currently building my first saber and i was wondering what I could do to make my hilt look like it has seen its days and I thought I should ask here for advices before I tried anything. I didn't ordered PC from the start cause I was not quite sure if I could add some aging looks to the Powder Coat (I have ways to powder coat it here anyway).

So, have you ever used any other kind of paint on your saber? Have you ever tried to apply some kind of aging/weather effects on it? Did it worked? Post some pics if you can!

As for some reference, I really like the looks on this hilt:

I'm not sure if it has been Powder Coated or if it's some other kind of paint, but it sure looks good.

    Thanks in advance!

That appears to be aluminum black. LDM would know for sure.

Do a quick search on the forums for "weathering" and you should find some good information.

    Just a few examples:

We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

The weathering with olive oil is a great tutorial.
