    Default Basic Electronics Instructional Videos

Probably one of the most important things one must know when entering the saber hobby is a basic knowledge of electronics and how they work. It doesn't matter if you are building a basic stunt saber or one with a Crystal Focus inside, it is important to have some rudimentary understanding of circuits. While this hobby is very popular with many people, some of the newer folks entering it many not have too much knowledge of electronics and it's workings. I'm hoping to help them overcome that problem. Here I have gathered a series of short 5-7 minute instructional videos I found that I feel will help people grasp a better understanding of how to work with and build electric circuits. I have found the instructor to be very clear and to the point in his lectures and he provides excellent examples to help the viewer understand what he is talking about. Each video is as follows:

Intro. to Volts and Amps - This video explains the fundamental concepts of an electric circuit.

Resistors and Resistance - This video explains what resistance is and how resistors can be used to help vary the current flow in a circuit. It also introduces Ohm's Law.

Rearranging Ohm's Law - This video explains how to use basic algebra to manipulate Ohm's Law and solve for the different parts of it.

Kilo, Milli, and Mega - This video talks about how to convert units for the different values of Ohm's law.

LEDs and Series Resistors - This video explains how LEDs work and how we can properly hook up resistors to them to regulate current. I feel this video will be particularly helpful for any newcomers or first-timers trying to build a stunt saber saber, one with Flash on Clash or one using the Nano Biscotti.

I hope these will help saber builders for a long time to come. Thanks very much and MTFBWY always!

Welcome to saber building. You've taken your first step into a larger world.

Thanks, Machinimax! I've been looking all over for something like this (books, videos, etc.), to no avail. I'm so going to watch these when I get the chance.
