three Button Staff Saber

Ok odd question, but something I have been wondering. Is it possible to make a staff saber that uses three activate buttons? I.E. one for each individual blade if they were used by themselves and one universal switch if I was able to get the to hook together on a quick release to make them a staff saber. Am I thinking crazy or has anyone try(or completed) this idea before?

My plan is to revamp a staff for 3 buttons, however it would be a dedicated staff. 3 buttons a central for ignition and one on each end of the hilt for aux.
