I haven't been around here much in the last few months. I have some catch up saber posting to do.
Let's start with my Gator Grip saber.
This saber came together fairly quickly for me. I wanted something slightly Sithy, but not totally evil looking, and I wanted it to be kind of sleek with a thin grip area. I found some cool, alligator looking leather and thought it looked nice on it.
I kind of like the covertec being offset by 90 degrees. I think it puts the saber in a more natural position for a quick draw. I usually wear my sabers on the right, so the switch faces forward, rather than out to the side.
Specs:
-PC-U running Darkmeat
-Two 14670 battery pack
-In-hilt recharge
-LedEngin 5W Deep Red (nice color!)
-TCSS speaker
-MHS parts and 1.25" aluminum tube
-TCSS sleeve material
-Red ring AV switch (mom)
-Leather grip material from an old pair of boots.
Continuing on my theme of leather gripped sabers, I decided to try my hand at an A'Sharad Hett style saber.

For the next one, I was aiming for a sort of Old Republic era saber that looked like it had been through a war and had several repairs and upgrades. I was inspired to try some Eastern57 style hack-fu. Weathering was done with aluminum black then matte clear coated. I really like the finish this gave.
Specs:
-Petit Crouton running Darkmeat sound font
-One 18650 Li-Ion battery
-In-hilt recharge
-Red LuxIII
-1W TCSS speaker
-Red ring AV switch
I tried something a little different. It's a no-crystal crystal chamber. Basically, I have two flashing accent LEDs shining on the inside of the switches to imply that there is something going on in the inner workings that you can't quite see. You can't see the LEDs, but you can see the stuff they light up through the grill. I kind of like the effect.
