haha ok nova star, sorry ghosebat. Not trying to change the subject from purple lightsaber, but i was looking on a german site and well were on the topic of "colors"i noticed they have an orange led,and it dosent seem liek amber unless the germans just call it that, give it a check if you want:

    www.leds.de

its under Seoul Z-Power LED P4 ,only 47 lumens but still

    ---------------------------------------

and also on the topic of uv led saber i just made a 12 RGB led Uv

saber, but i have found that at ledsupply they have "real"purple ,they also

have UV,but the purple seems liek it would be idenical to the Mace windu

purple, nothing against the UV COLOR cuzit really makes a cool

purple, and i will use it still but for my saber im goingto test the "real

purple" ,which my only worry is it not being bright enough, but with 12

RGB leds it think it could be fine, will post when i test them, stil lwaitingfor themtocome in

    No worries at all :)

I am certainly not trying to say don't do it! I completely agree that you only live once and that a life without danger is a dull one. However It's also a good idea to know what the dangers are in a situation so you can decide what precautions you want or do not want to take, I have a nice little sack of UV LEDs and they are neat and fun to play with but I came close to real eye damage and would rather others didn't have to make the same mistakes.

My guess is that the blade diffuser will take care of the direct UV issue but I have no experience there, my UV jack-O-lantern bounces the LED cluster off of some luminous paint and it's fine to stare at.

Interesting, my first assumption was that it would be a white LED in orange resin but it doesn't seem to be the case. It tempts me to place an order to see if its a true orange or orange/amber but my toy budget is getting thin and shipping from europe stings.

Testing LEDs of all kinds is ALWAYS helpful to the "Luxeon saber" community... keep us posted, Darth S!

Heck, pretty soon--we won't really be able to call them "Luxeon LED" sabers... it's becoming a bit too proprietary.

Hmm... Maybe... "High-powered LED Sabers".... "High-current, single LED sabers"...

We need somethin' catchy, an easy acronym... heheh

Default RGB LED YELLOW BLADE TEST

YELLOW IS NOW COMPLETED, i did not post any pictures because it was a complete failure, strangly enough the yellow rgb leds are not bright enough to make a blade, pink is next on the list to try, hopefully ill get better results

so id say so far orange has been the best test,uv was also bright enuff, how ever it is a dark colour to begin with, and yellow failed
