Thread: Luke's Hilt ROTJ Vers. From scratch

Default Luke's Hilt ROTJ Vers. From scratch

Figured I'd post my progress on my Hero version of Luke skywalkers Saber.
Started with a 14" piece of solid aluminum bar from my local metal shop.
Used my Jet lathe for this one.

    Here it is step-by-step.

I'm finally done with the lathing part of my build and I'm moving on to building the switch box.
If anyone has built the switch box before, where can I find the top of the switch (I believe it's called the activation plate)? Shown here being inserted by another builder.

the only reason i triple posted is because the "5 photo limit" in each post, and i have 11 photos therefore 3 posts.

Fantastic results. You have admiral skills, and have created a saber that will, hopefully, inspire and entertain any who see it. Congrats on making something beautiful.

Nice... "just" a prop, though, I'm gathering, since it's solid aluminium?

Thank you for the compliments, much appreciated!
I'm torn between keeping it a prop or fixing the end to fit a blade from TCSS.
I might just make another one for fun and keep this a prop.

That circuit board for the box, by the bye, is sold by The Custom Sabre Shop.

    Very nice Luke RotJ saber.

Just a note, you can post much more than 5 pics a post if you host them offsite like at Photobucket for example. Photobucket's "IMG thumb" option (which might not be enabled by default) is a great one to use as it creates a "clickable thumbnail" link.

From Wikipedia: "Internet Explorer slows down GIFs if the framerate is 20 frames per second or higher and Microsoft reports that Google Chrome and Safari also slow down some GIF animations."
