Thread: Opinions?

let's start with a few explanations:
standard switch style is for the switches with the nut on the outside of the hilt.
guarded switch style is for the switches with nut on the inside of the hilt.
Momentary means the switch only gives a connection as long as you press it.
Latching means the switch connects as long as it is in a specific position.
If you use the long av-style switches you need an activation box, because otherwise they could be to long to fit inside the hilt.
Yes you need an additional resistor for the av-style switches, this resistor has to be based on the voltage you get from the soundboard or another energy source (this depends on the used board etc.)
When you use a pretite crouton soundboard, you just need this board to drive your led and nothing else, if you want to use another board you may need an additional driver.
The difference in the seoul or the rebelstar are differences in color and/or brightness (have a look at this thread http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com...-Blue-LED-pics).

I hope these explanations help and don't confuse you.

Are you going to go with a sound option? If so, have you decided on which one? We can better help you with the other parts/options once this is known.

Yeah i wanna go sound! I wanna do the PC one like you all suggested OKAY! So sadly they don't have the PC board right now but i put my email in to be notified so hopefully soon. Assuming I go with that board and the latching version of the switch: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/16...itch-P435.aspx (Would that be okay? I read somewhere u often use the other type with sound boards???) and any one of activation boxes 2-6 what else do I need to make it work? Which resistor do I need. I know you said it has to be based on the voltage from the soundboard but I really don't know what that means I need ha sorry.
I'm assuming I need batteries or no (li-ion it says?) there was a bit of confusion about the batteries though in here so I'd like to check. and im assuming I need something to connect the batteries to the soundboard? and then the soundboard connects to the led somehow? would the resistor connect directly to the soundboard and the switch?
speakers and sensors? anything else for the sound? any wires or anything there?
What about the blade does anyone have any suggestions as to the options for that?
    am i forgetting anything

Get the PC and this box: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Ac...le-2-P355.aspx

    This AV switch: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/16...itch-P616.aspx

    This Aux switch: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Bl...itch-P558.aspx

    This recharge port: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/21...-Jack-P37.aspx

All that stuff fits in the one box. Then order a custom work fee for mounting holes for the box, just be sure to tell Tim where on the hilt you want it.

then get this when it gets back in stock: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...t-V3-P358.aspx

and this to go with it: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/2A...lder-P348.aspx

These batteries: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Tr...Pack-P342.aspx (out of stock, but Tim is working on new batteries so it won't be long)

    This Charger: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Tr...rger-P346.aspx

The soundboard will mount on top of the battery holder, which in turn mounts to the speaker holder V3 above. This will give you an easy to use/maintain module. I would also use the Seoul P4 blue, its brighter and has a better shade, IMO than the Rebel.

    Any other questions, just ask.

I would also suggest you to have a look at the manual of the PC (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/im...C1.6manual.pdf), this will give you a lot of information how to connect everything.

Listen to Fender you should...one of the most eminent master sabersmiths in our hobby [Vader's Vault] he is half of mmmhmmm

I like your design and am sure your bf will too...BH#6 is one of my favourite bladeholders and imo perfect for someones first saber because one can add a couple of these
http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/1-...ing--P182.aspx in the grooves to protect it from being dinged up from drops while they are first learning saber spinning [not that I ever dropped mine of course ] and for the same reason I like this pommel
http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MP...yle-5-P92.aspx for a first saber but the one you have selected is great too.

FenderBender: Thats fantastic thanks so much! Theres a couple things that I'll have to wait for because they aren't in stock but thats very much fantastic! thanks so much.
    Onli-Won Kanomi : Thanks!
FenderBender or anyone else who'd like to help/has been helping : Just a couple questions.

    1) Sense its a speaker holder does that mean it has a speaker or I have to get a speaker to put in it?

    2) Second, the resistor for the switch... went through the manual for the PC (thanks Batosai) but I couldn't quite figure out the calculation because (3.3-3.3) = 0 and no matter how much you want it to equal something other than 0 dividing 0 by anything is still 0 haha. So I'm still a little confused there.

    3) LED - took your advice and went with the Seoul. Do I need the lens viewing angle thing and the p4 holder?

    4) The blade. type/length suggestions?

you have to get the speaker seperatally, it won't come with the speakermount.
a basic rule (I think I learned from fender) always use a resistor with a led, even if the caculation results zero, just take a very tiny resistor (1-5ohm I would say)
and the blade, it is kind of a question of taste, I would recommend a semitransparent white blade with celophan wrap (inside). The length depends on the heigth and the preferences of your boyfriend and thick or thinwalled depends if you want to use it for duells or not.
And yes, you ALWAYS need a lens.

does the wattage matter like lets say i use 1-5 ohms 10 w vs 1-5 ohms 5w?
do i need a resistor for the other LED?
If i made the wrong decision as to what blade he might like best how much trouble would it be for him to swap it out later?
    which lens should i get?
