Thread: 3mm LED's

    Default 3mm LED's

Hi ! I found some really nice green LED's . They are 3mm , 8000mcd , 5-15ma . The only problem is that they are 20 degrees . I am planning on making 4 strips , about 70 led's each . Do you think the blade will be even , without dim spots ? Also do you think they will fit in a standard tcss 1 inch blade ? Thanks .

The angle is too shallow. Most of the light they emit will be directed at the tip of the blade rather than the sides. You could use a single strip of 45 degree leds and it would probably be brighter.

Check out Makototsai, a master of the art of string blades. Please peruse his threads...

There was also a facinating article on FX-Sabers about cutting down & dishing out LEDS for maximum light dispersion...
