    whats the best to clear coat the brass with?

    That's really a question for Jay to answer, or someone else with more experience than I with baking and painting sabers, sorry. (I've never painted or clear coated a saber before)

    I use either Krylon or Rustoleum Clear Enamel, and then bake it at 250 for an hour.
    We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

    Basically what i do as well, except I bake it at 300 for two hours. The drawback to clear coating the polished brass though, is that it actually dulls the shine, so instead of a deep lustrous shine, you're left with a shine on the finish, but it's not the same.
