a short and basic question: how long would a saber with FoC with a 10w LEDEngine last with 14500s?

Depends on color, how much flicker (or pulse as well if you're using CF.) and what current you're running at. Lots of "It Depends™"

    Hi there,

Just a quick question about FoC:
    Let's say I'm running a RGBW with a 7.4V batt pack and a CF.
I have B+R in series as the main blade and W+G in series for FoC.

    IIRC, @1000mA:

    Green Vf = 4.5V
    White Vf = 3.7V
    So Cluster Vf is 4.5+3.7 = 8.2V

    or @700mA

    Green Vf = 4.2V
    White Vf = 3.5V
    So Cluster Vf is 4.2+3.5 = 7.7V

In both cases Cluster Vf > batt pack voltage.
Does it mean I don't need any resistor for FoC? I doubt it... but I wonder what to do.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I would use a couple ncr 18650s. They will keep the voltage up as much as possible. I would use a 1/2 ohm resistor on the flash pair if I had to go series but parallel could be brighter.

    Hey Sunrider,

Due to limited space I'll be using Ultrafire 18500s that I have under hand, hope it will be enough juice.
I don't think I'll go // for FoC, in order to extend runtime (well I hope so). So in series you advice a 1/2 ohm resistor? I guess a 1 Watt will do considering the small voltage drop?
I'm also considering a nice silver blade (in //) with whitish orange FoC (in series).

ok, i think i got all this figured out for just running a couple pucks to runa 4/red die led , but what about, hooking this up to my US 2 board in my Vader saber? the board runs the led, and im using 2, 3.7 lion trustfires to run it now with a red/orange L3. so if i may ask, what or how would this wire up in this situation to my US 2 board?

how would one hook an engin up to a MR yoda soundboard and have a purple blade?

MR boards can't properly/fully drive the LEDengins, at least without serious/complicated (read: not worth it) work arounds. You'd be better off using a 3W RGB rather than a 10W, both financially and performance wise.

Behold! A Venn diagram for color mixing with light!

    RGB_illumination.jpg

Notice how you get purple by mixing red/blue, cyan by mixing blue/green, and yellow by mixing red/green. And of course, white by mixing all three.

We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.
