Thread: New wiring design for my old saber, I just wanted to see if I did it wrong or not.

Default New wiring design for my old saber, I just wanted to see if I did it wrong or not.

It's been quite sometime since I built my first saber and I'll be honest, There have been some problems, one of which I fixed by filing my pommel and holding it with duck tape but now I have been doing a bit of revising and I came up with a new wiring set up. Would this work?

Wiring setup new design.jpg The main thing I want to address is the momentary switches wiring. Have I got it right?

Connect the grey wire to C1 on both momentary switches. You'll want to connect the other wires to NO1 instead of NC1 on both switches. Other than that, I don't see any issues.

Umm the main switch is actually a latching AV switch and in my last wiring, Wiring setup.jpg It worked on the NC1. I was going from my old design and it worked fine.

The main switch can be wired that way, you just have to adjust the config parameters on the PC to match a normally closed (NC) switch. The momentary switch for aux functions should be wired in a normally open (NO) configuration.

Your initial post appeared to have wires running to C2 and NC1, which would do absolutely nothing. Side 1 and Side 2 of the switch are completely independant.

Well the main switch has already been soldered to the NC1 >< but does this look better? Wiring setup new design.jpg

Main switch is fine since it is latching. The PC has settings to use latching switches in that configuration.

Your momentary switch is still set as Normally Closed. It needs to be Normally Open.

You've got it now. Feel free to grab the soldering iron and go to town.

Hey man, the wiring is the hardest part. Might as well check your work in the meantime, right?
